FAQ
What is this?
Winedex is a live index of Champagne by-the-glass prices across London restaurants. Every entry is sourced directly from a real wine list, not estimated, not scraped from review sites. If a venue is on here, a wine list exists to back it up.
How complete is the data?
It isn't exhaustive. No index of London hospitality can be. But it is, to my knowledge, the largest structured database of London wine lists in existence. If a significant Champagne-by-the-glass programme is missing, it's on the list to add.
Where does the data come from?
Carefully and manually curated over more than six months. Wine lists are collected, parsed, and verified by hand. The prices you see reflect real menus, not aggregated averages, not estimates. This is the work, done properly.
Who built this?
Me. Rijnard van Tonder. Certified Sommelier (CMS) and PhD. I'm building the wine identifier database at elid.wine and this is one application of it.
How fresh is the data?
Each venue shows when its wine list was last checked. Lists are revisited regularly; the date is there so you can judge for yourself. Prices do change, and the index reflects that as updates come in.
Can I contribute?
